Notes on compressible
gas flow calculations.
- The formulas for compressible
gas were taken from Engineering Fluid Mechanics, 3rd edition, by Roberson/Crowe.
- As the flow of a gas
goes from laminar to turbulent and approaches sonic, the Cd factor (Coefficient
of discharge) goes to unity. The Cd factor is a measure of the vena contracta,
which does not exist at sonic or very turbulent flow.
- The algorithm used here
checks to see if the flow is sonic. If the flow is sonic, the Cd factor is
omitted or considered to be unity.
